On 16th November 1928 with address given as 29 Bristol Place, Brighton, sail with daughter Sarah and widowed daughter Rose Silkman and her two sons, together with a 18 year old nurse Miss P.S. Holdom from Southampton on Union Castle line S.S. 'Kildonan Castle' bound for Cape Town, South Africa. Book a return to England on S.S 'Balmoral Castle' with arrival address given as 29 Oriental Place, Brighton but disembark with the Silkman family at the Island of Madeira on the 20th December with dying daughter Sarah. Rosetta and Silkman family arrive at Southampton on the S.S. 'Armadale Castle' on the 31st December 1928 with address now given as 1 Bancroft Road, London. 1939 Register living at 16 Bedford Square, Brighton, Sussex. Buried in Jewish cemetery Brighton. Grave stone marked to Rosetta Alice Garwood from " - Daughter Rose, Grandchildren Joseph, Henry, Ann and John. also Gt Grandchildren Yvonne and Karen".
At one time managed three of the Smith owned registered Lodging Houses in Flower and Dean Street, Spitalfields. Served as a Private in the Royal Army Service Corps 728th Company during WW1 enlisting at Whitechapel on the 24th June 1916. Service No. M/378340 joining No.1 Crystal Palace depot as a Motorman. Demobbed 2nd March 1919. Buried in Smith family plot, Jewish Cemetery, Marlow Road London with tributes from living children Tommy, Alfie, Jimmy, Rosie, Hannah & Doris.
Age 15 1901 census living with married sister Rebecca at 43 St Dunstans Road Mil e End London. Separate from husband Henry Brown and in 1911 census living as 'Head' at 11 St Peters Road, Mile End Old Town with daughter Rose and boarder Hyman Goldfine (misprinted as Godfrey). Details state 5 children born with 1 child having died.Other family recollection is that two other children were born,- a Jimmy and Bert, - but there is no record of this.
